Long time no blog

Sorry sorry sorry to those of you whom are following my blog.  I have not posted for over a week.  I dont know where the time has gone. I have been frantically selling things on e-bay trying to raise some spending money for our holiday and so by the time I have done this I have had enough of sitting at my desk and lap top!  One day I will upgrade to an ipad and life will be so much easier.

Well you will be pleased to hear that last Thursday I weighed in and lost a total of 3lb. I was as you can imagine very very happy. I also got my 1 stone weight loss award and slimmer of the week award!!!  So my total weight loss is now 17lb.  Only 5 stone and 11lb to go (i’m getting there slowly).

Last Tuesday I had a terrible run.  I only managed to run for 10 minutes and ended up power walking the rest.  So I continued as usual and did my usual run on Thursday and yes it went fine. I managed it without stopping and ran for a full 30 mins (with a few wee stops for  monty!).  On Saturday my run was fine and Mondays run was also fine so hopefully I am back on track again now.  I am noticing that my breathing seems to be holding me back and I am wheezing so I think a trip to the doctors is required to check that I am not asthmatic or something.

I have not done Davina this week as I need to fix my DVD player which seems to have gone up the swanny.  Hopefully this will be sorted out soon as I am missing my living room workout.

So – tomorrow – weigh in again.  How do I think I will do?  Hmmmmm.  I have been sensible with my eating but I did have a Mr Whippy ice-cream on bank holiday Monday with a chocolate flake in it!  I have felt guilty ever since for consuming this and so if I have remained the same or put on weight then Mr Whippy was the cause.  Its my own fault and I will know next time not to have a Mr Whippy ice-cream.  It was very nice though.

I will be going for a run in the morning and I am looking forward to it.  It is so nice to be able to run now the weather is a bit better, especially early in he morning before it gets too warm.


A blip but it hasn’t stopped me from being determined

So today was weigh in day. My weight gain was 1.5lb (which is what I lost last week). Although I have upped the time I run for I also upped the amount of food I consumed last week – it was very difficult being stuck in the house with the bad weather and I think one of the contributions to this weight gain was the Pot of Olives with Feta cheese that I consumed on Sunday.
My tummy also felt very bloated and still does. I am going to try and eat a little bit more fibre to see if that helps as I don’t think I was consuming enough.

I am not angry, upset or cross that I put on this week. I have done so well over the last 4 weeks that I am bound to have the occasional blip. I was expecting to either remain the same or put on this week so it wasnt a shock.

I did however go for my Thursday morning post weigh in run and I did work harder than I normally would. I am finding the 25 minute run quite a challenge and it is difficult. 25 minutes seems like a long time when you are running on your own and today I pushed myself by upping my pace on several occasions for short bursts.

This week I will loose and I will not be eating Olives.

On track for more weight loss

We had a lovely weekend this weekend and I was very good food wise. I even had a delicious roast dinner yesterday – cooked by myself and Simon. We had the family round for Mothers Day and so with the stress of getting dinner ready and running around after my daughter who decided to create havoc and a total mess whilst the attention was not on her I think I burned quite a few calories. Simon made a Bread and Butter Pudding which I had to try. It was heaven and I was very good and only had a small slice of it. I still enjoyed it though and didn’t feel like I had missed out.

The food I seem to be enjoying the most at the moment is scrambled egg. I break 2 eggs and scramble them and sometimes have it on its own, or I add smoked salmon or bacon. It is delicious. I am going to do some research on eggs to find out how many I should/shouldnt eat a day/week as I am unsure at this time and if I could eat more I would.

I went for a run with my neighbour on Saturday morning and we both struggled but managed it and as usual felt fantastic afterwards.

Today I did another run – this time 3 x 5 minute intervals with 3 minutes walk in between, I found it fairly easy considering I ran in the wind and snow. At one point whist running into the wind I found I couldn’t breathe because the wind was blowing so fast! I must have looked a right idiot with my pink hat, gloves and 2 x running tops and a windproof rain coat on, but I kept warm and dry which was the main thing.

I feel like I am getting into a good routine of food and find now I am craving snacks I would never have dreamt of eating for instance – carrot sticks!!! The more the time passes the less I miss crisps. I think my wheat and gluten free crispbreads help me with that craving also.

I told them at Slimming World on Thursday (last week) that my target weight loss for this week was going to be 2lb. I am aiming to loose more than this but I have a feeling that the hormones may kick in this week so this may make a slight difference. We shall find out when I stand on those scales on Thursday!!

I am getting used to this diet

I am starting to get used to not eating between meals and now when I am hungry I think about what flavour Muller light to have rather than what crisps are in the cupboard. Hopefully my state of mind is changing towards food. I know it will take me several weeks (or even months) to totally change my mind set but I feel that I am on the right track and every day seems to get a little bit easier. I guess the scales will be the proof in that.

Diet wise, this weekend went really well. I didnt go out in the evenings which helps as then the temptations of other food and drink is not there.

On Saturday we went to the Zoo. It was very very cold and apart from sharing a cake with Simon in the coffee shop I was very good. I also let him have the bigger bit of cake with more icing on!!! We took a picnic with us and ate it in the car with the heaters on. Olivia had sandwiches, crisps and fruit and Simon and I took a packet of smoked salmon, a lemon and crispbreads and Ryvita and ate that. Olivia even offered me some of her crisps and I said NO!!!

Saturday evening Simon went out so I had a really juicy Steak with Slimming World homemade chips (syn free) with salad. It was scrummy and I was so full afterwards I did not feel the need to snack on anything at all.

On Sunday we stayed at home and cooked another Hairy Bikers recipie: Old Fashioned Chicken casserole for our dinner. We all had porridge for breakfast (though I am still struggling to enjoy this and prefer the fruit with yoghurt).

I must confess on Sunday night I was a bit down in the dumps and was also on my own so scoffed approx 50grams of butterkist sweet popcorn. I do hope this isnt going to come back and haunt me when I get on the scales on Thursday.

Today I have been very very good so hopefully I have made up for this popcorn scoffing episode.

After today I have 2 full days to go until my next weigh in. What will the scales be telling me this week? I am determined to get my 1/2 stone award this week so need to have lost at least 2lb.
